Brenda has been a resident of Pinxton for 58 years and a parish councillor for many years. She became involved with a number of activities in the parish such as the 50 plus Forum, Afternoon Tea Dances, Hearts of Gold and Help for Heroes, which despatched over 300 parcels to the Gulf Forces. Brenda is working with other Parish Councillors to bring various features to the village, for example hanging baskets and festive lighting. She acknowledges the help of all the local parishioners, who she says 'have given me their support of which I am eternally grateful'.

I have lived in Pinxton all my life and think it is a good place to live. Since retiring I have tried to help the people of pinxton. I was a member of Derbyshire primary health trust; Now I am a member of Pinxton Council; I am the chairwoman of Pinxton's Bingo. I am on the committee of Pinxton's SNAP club and the Pinxton's Doctors committee. I was a school Governor before the academies. My biggest feeling was saving three premature babies lives, with my milk being that rich the doctors stated they would have died without my milk.

Born in 1953 and resided at nearby South Normanton until 1972. Was educated at Frederick Gent Secondary School which serves the two parishes of Pinxton and South Normanton. After leaving school attended High Peak College Buxton to train in the catering industry and was a catering manager until 1976. From 1976 joined North East Derbyshire District Council on the grounds maintenance section and after further periods of study at Broomfield College and the Institute of Groundsmanship became an officer of the council for grounds maintenance in 1988 and served the council for more than 35 years until voluntary early retirement in 2010. This experience in local government along with the skills and knowledge of the work undertaken are something I am able to bring to assist and support the Parish Council.
